1.6.3.2 <Plain>

A <Plain> element must contain only textual content with no markup. If the Supplier includes text that looks like markup by including blocks of CDATA then it is up to the Consumer as to whether they wish to render the information as supplied or whether they want to sanitise all of the elements into plain text. In general one should assume that unless a prior arrangement exists between the Supplier and the Consumer that markup will not be preserved.

Attributes

format
Optional attribute that can contain a string describing how any data contained within CDATA inside the <Plain> tag should be interpretted. IVES may define a set of standard formats, but in general it is up to the Supplier to reach an agreement with the Consumer as to what formats are going to be supported and how they are to be annotated. Note that the IVES schema makes no guarantee or enforcement as to whether or not the data contained within the CDATA block is in the format specified, or if it is a valid example of the format specified. Therefore Consumers should only trust this data without further validation from trusted Suppliers.
